Pastor John Patterson lives in Sylva NC with his wife Amanda and their two sons, Liam & Ian. John serves both Love’s Chapel and Webster United Methodist Churches as a Local Pastor within the Smoky Mountain District of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church.

John works as a Commercial Insurance Agent with Stanberry Insurance Agency and takes pride in the relationships he has built with his business clients. Helping Churches and Religious Organizations with their Insurance needs has been a focus of his for years.

John is also active with a number of community organizations in Jackson and Haywood Counties, serving on the Board of Hights, Folkmoot, & the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce. John also serves as the Program Director for Leadership Haywood, and Vice Chair of the Young Professionals of Haywood County. John can be found cooking and serving BBQ at the annual Wesley Foundation Golf Classic as well as playing a role in the annual Wesley Foundation Haunted House.

Previously John participated in the Homegrown Leadership Program through the NC Rural Center as a representative of Jackson County and also went through the Jackson County Citizen’s Academy. As a member of the Rotary Club of Sylva, John help to spearhead bringing the Flags for Heroes program to Jackson County. John worked in partnership with WNC FarmLink to build awareness about Farmland Preservation, forming the NC Grows initiative and hosting public screenings of the documentary Farmers for America.

John hopes to bring his passion for community and love of Jesus Christ to people all across Jackson County and beyond.
